Le Scania R143 M Streamline a marqué une période significative dans la production du constructeur scandinave, Scania, en remportant un succès commercial notable entre la fin des années 80 et le milieu des années 90 sur divers marchés européens et internationaux. Assemblé à Södertälje, en Suède, le R143M était un modèle phare de la « série 3 » de Scania, introduite en 1987 après la révolutionnaire « série 2 » des années 1980. Doté d'un moteur V8 de 500 chevaux, le R143M était puissant et fiable, intégrant les technologies de pointe de l'époque.

Sa conception mettait l'accent sur la réduction de la résistance aérodynamique et la minimisation de la consommation de carburant, des facteurs clés pour le succès dans le transport lourd sur de longues distances. En configuration à deux roues motrices, le tracteur Scania était également loué pour sa facilité d'entretien et ses coûts d'exploitation et de gestion modérés. L'ensemble de ces caractéristiques a contribué à faire du Scania R143 M Streamline un modèle apprécié et performant sur le marché.
